Located downstream of the high-consistency refiner, it is used for the separation of steam and pulp. The pulp is sprayed tangentially from the separator, centrifugal force and gravity act on the pulp, the pulp moves downward along the circumference of the inner wall, and the steam is discharged from the top. To prevent fibers from accumulating on the inner wall, a slowly rotating agitator removes the pulp adhering to the inner wall.
The top of the separator is sprayed to wash the exhausted steam to facilitate the removal of the entrained fibers.
